Valentine's Fun Parts 1, 2, & 3!

PART 1: BAKING VALENTINE'S COOKIES AT NINA'S
My mom, affectionately known as Nina, invited us over for a cookie baking afternoon. Everything was laid out so cute and nice!It was really hard work ;)Evie's cooking decorating technique: touch sprinkles, touch cookie, lick fingers, repeat.Want a cookie? (none of these are Evie's "special" cookies)
PART 2: SISTER PARTY!
The other night, I threw together an impromptu Valentine's party for the girls using whatever I could find in the pantry.Surprisingly, I had a lot of Valentine's stuff in the pantry! I put out Little Debbie's and Kisses, then made up some quick mac n' cheese and pink smoothies. I used brown paper to cover the table, and let the girls color on the "vinatge-y" Valentine's that I bought at Home Good's. Anabelle wants you to know that Valentine's Day is to be taken very seriously ;PExcept for when it comes to eating Debbie's, it's cool to be a goofball ;PEvie said, "Mommy, this is the best Valentine's party I NEVER seen!" - haha

PART 3: MY FAVORITE VALENTINE'S DATE!
I'm joining up with Kelly's Korner "Show Us Your Life" Friday again this week. This is always fun and I love her blog! If you've never been, you should click over and check it out. She's a cute wife and mom who blogs about wife and mom stuff, totally relate-able. Plus, when you follow the "Show Us Your Life" posts, you find tons of other interesting bloggers. Anyway, this week's topic is "Valentine's - your favorite date or gift". It just so happens that Ben and I have a little tradition that I thought would be fun to share... Fondue and a movie night! Fondue has a certain sweet importance in our relationship, Ben used to take me on dates to our local Fondue Haus back in our dating days, and that is where he took me for dinner after he asked me to marry him - sweet! So, here is how fondue night at home works, every year Ben let's me pick a girl movie and he buys it for me (that is my gift), we put the baby girls to bed, make beer cheese fondue together, and eat it at the coffee table in the den while we watch the movie. This is just really laid back and nice.

How to Make Beer Cheese Fondue:

You will need:
A fondue pot (ours is from Target)
Bread cut into chunks (we like Publix Bakery's White Mountain Bread)
Apples cut into chunks
Other good ideas for dipping: Carrots, Broccoli, Cauliflower
1 Bottle of Beer (your choice)
1 Garlic Clove
2 Package Shredded Cheddar Cheese
1 Package Shredded Mozzarella Cheese

Directions:
1. First cut all of your dipping selections into chunks, the fondue cooking part goes fast so go ahead and do all of your prep work and setting up (plates, candles, etc.)
2. Boil beer and minced garlic clove in separate pot on stove top.
3. Put shredded cheese into fondue pot (2 parts cheddar, 1 part mozzarella)
4. Pour boiling beer and garlic mixture over cheese, place over fondue pot heat source and stir until you reach a smooth consistency (at this point you'll want to follow whatever directions go with your particular pot)
5. Plug in your movie and enjoy!

Pick a Great Movie:

This year I picked He's Just Not That Into You, but here is a quick list of movies I've chosen in the past: 27 Dresses, Vanity Fair, Just Like Heaven, Pride and Prejudice (all time fave!), 13 Going on 30, Sweet Home Alabama... I can't remember all of them :)

Happy Valentines Day Ya'll!!!
