My Nest

v. nest·ing
Around the fifth month of pregnancy, the "nesting" instinct can set in. This is an uncontrollable urge to clean one's house brought on by a desire to prepare a nest for the new baby, to tie up loose ends of old projects and to organize your world.

Ahh, nesting, the great conundrum that occupies my every thought these days. With our house going off of the market next month, we may finally have a buyer (yikes!). Several months ago I would have been ecstatic about this prospect, but now with Anabelle's arrival getting so close, the last thing I want to do right now is move. Considering the turtle speed of Florida's current real estate market, I've already planned and perfected every detail of preparing a functional happy home for two baby girls in our current house. My nursery updates are nearly complete, and I just finished setting up Anabelle's "newborn nook" in our bedroom. I'm comfortable and ready to enter this new chapter of our lives, here - in this house. Even though we've already been house shopping and found a house that really is perfect for us, the possibility of moving right now is so horrifying.

The potential new house is my style (traditional) and in one of our desired school districts, but it's a bit of a "fixer-upper". Not scary, but needs plenty of cosmetic work. Normally this would sound like an exciting adventure to me as I love to design and decorate, but I'm to the point in my pregnancy where I just want domestic perfection; clean, organized, my way - perfection. The couple who likes our house has indicated that they are extremely interested and plan to make an offer on something soon. Hurry up, the suspense is simply killing me!!! All I can do is sit and anticipate the drastic changes (a delivery and a possible move) that are looming in our very near future.

Yesterday, in an attempt to relax, make plans, and get inspired, I decided to watch Bewitched (the movie with Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell). The interior spaces in this movie are fabulous! A little shabby chic, a wonderful neutral color pallet, an occasional modern accent, a style that is traditional and whimsical at the same time - I love it! If we move to a new house, I plan on stealing some design inspiration from their set designer. If you've never seen the movie, you really should just for the aesthetics (the story and clothes are cute too). Rent it, poor a glass of wine (go ahead and drink one for me too), and enjoy!

I feel like I've done an OK job of coming up with a good "whatever happens" plan, but I also feel like I need a therapist! I am just OCD and "type A" enough right now to drive myself completely crazy. I've been praying and asking God to help me relax and be patient, but once again (as always) I'm having a hard time giving up control. If you think about it, pray for peace and patience for me. Inability and unknown circumstances are becoming even harder me to stand. I can remind myself of God's providence all day, but trusting Him can be so hard!

Nesting - Definition
I am vicariously living my nesting needs through Ben right now.

Seriously Meg, I hope that everything works out well with the house....because that means it will work out well for me too! I love you, and am glad to have our 2nd baby together.

Hi Megan, it sounds like you are getting by... That will be daunting if you have to move, but how great it will be in the end to have a new home! Moving into a new place is one of my favorite things in the world. How is the little bun? Are you still on bed rest?

The swaddle blanket I have is from Target and we like it because it is nice and big, however on the message boards everyone talks about the Miracle Blanket.... This is a late responce to your question, so you probally have your answers, but I thought I would include any way!

I am going to go to your sniglet website and I would like to order some more burp clothes.. I lost one the other day and it nearly broke my heart!!!

Take care lady and hang in there!
