One Day Without Shoes

If you don't already know about Toms shoes, here is a little bio straight from their website... In 2006, American traveler Blake Mycoskie befriended children in Argentina and found they had no shoes to protect their feet. Wanting to help, he created TOMS Shoes, a company that would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need. One for One. Blake returned to Argentina with a group of family, friends and staff later that year with 10,000 pairs of shoes made possible by TOMS customers. My friend Kimberly invited me to participate in a One Day Without Shoes event for Toms in St. Austine. The event kicked off with a barefoot walk from Flagler College through historic downton St. Augustine, and ended at the adorable Goldfinch Boutique where participants could purchase a pair of Toms. To further promote the Toms movement, a "Style Your Soles" party was happening outside in Goldfinch's front yard where Flagler art teachers, students, and a few "hip" moms like me ;) were stylin' the soles.

A few spring breakers who joined in the funA few more walkersThe walk leaving Flagler CollegeStyle Your Soles party (see me in the far background workin' hard with sisors?)Kimberly's husband Loren is an art teacher and he does this awesome painting!Did I mention I had Evie and Anabelle with me too? I felt like a hippy super mom ;)They had great live music too

Toms shoes is a secular company lovingly filling a huge tangible need in the lives of children around the world. Think how much more amazing this movement could be if done in the name of Christ - I just wanted to put that bug in your ear!
Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ “Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 25:34-40
