At the Boardwalk with "Oncle" Reed
Ben, Evie, and the Bay
I don't like to brag, but do you see that guy?!!!
... Hermit Crabs that is.We took a little family vacation last weekend to Pensacola (Gulf Breeze actually) my home town. Reed (my brother who is stationed in Germany) was in the States for a few weeks and had a three day weekend to spend with us. The majority of my side of the family still lives in the area, so it was wonderful to spend time with my grandparents, aunt, uncle, and cousin. My Nana and Papa Joe live right on the Bay, the perfect "baby beach". The whole family (both of my parent's sides) gathered there most of the weekend for swimming and meals (yum!) It was just so fun to have everyone in one place (we missed you Neal and Molly!) We really enjoyed ourselves, and even brought home a couple of souvenirs. The first of the souvenirs is a stomach virus that Ben and I are still suffering through :( The second is a pair of hermit crabs, Sophie and Sarah, as Evie has named them. We bought them at Alvin's Island, no trip to Pensacola Beach is complete unless you visit this tourist staple. I've been going there ever since the womb, and I'm pretty sure that hermit crabs are the classiest thing I've ever bought from them. They primarily sell T. shirts and mugs shaped like b.... well, you get the picture. I must say that we're satisfied with our choice of Alvin's Island purchase, Sophie and Sarah are turning out to be neat pets. They are Tree Crabs from the Caribbean, they don't carry or transmit any diseases, and they're hypo allergenic - cool. Best of all, they make Evie and Anabelle laugh. I plan on making them a really cool little home with classier looking sea finds than the neon shells we got at Alvin's, we've read that they can live for up to 30 years (do you believe it?) so I definitely want their home to be more attractive than it is now. Last night, they kept me awake over the baby monitor, so tonight I moved them to the bathroom where they might be staying (I have crabs in my bathroom - hehe!) Well enough about the crabs, I want to finish with a little something about me... this is my last post as a 24 year old because tomorrow is my birthday!!! Leave me some wishes!
