Spring is here and our tax refund is in the bank, for us that means it's time to redo the kitchen! I love decorating, but making choices for my own home is particularly challenging. I like too many things! Picking the precise style that I want to live with long term is hard for me. We did buy a new refrigerator the other day, an extremely awesome "industrial-ish" stainless fridge. Our 1970's kitchen is a bit crampy so we HAD to get a counter depth refrigerator, that equals smaller and more expensive :( We were really blessed to find one at the Sear's Outlet, a very rare outlet find, and at a pretty rare price too! The next step is to pick a new stove, flooring, and counter tops. There is also the issue of the curious ceiling fixture arrangement, and butchered stove side drawer to be dealt with. If you've visited my home recently, I've no doubt mocked them in front of you. My mother already beautifully painted the cabinets white, and I liked their layout to begin with, so they will be staying. I was looking for an older house who's kitchen had not been "remuddled", as it is very pricey to buy real wood anything these days, especially kitchen cabinetry. I was very happy to find this house with it's grease laden 30 year old, dark, maple, "westerny", cabinets. My mom and I both suspected they could be turned into something classy! I will leave you with a few pictures of the kitchen from when we first moved in and painting had begun. I'd greatly appreciate any renovation sources you may know: contractors, suppliers, etc. I can't wait to share pictures of the finished product, stay tuned...
