January 2009: A Dollop of Crazy
I am learning that life with kids (plural) has made me crazy: crazy happy, crazy sad, crazy silly, crazy mad. I speak for myself when I say that I spend most of my time feeling like a looney these days. Every feeling, thought, and action is magnified now that the things Ben and I do affect our little people. I think that somewhere in these five years of marriage and babies, the two of us have actually become adults. We are no longer "Ben and Megan had a baby" now we are "Ben and Megan are parents". How much time do we have before we become nerds? I guess it happens to the best of us.
I love being a mom, LOVE it, I just don't know how people do this and turn out normal once the kiddies are grown. I don't know why, but it shocks me everyday that my children grow. I now have a little kid living in my house, a panty wearing little kid, before I know it they'll both be grown. This concept is so real to me that I often find myself holding the girls, smelling their hair so hard that I forget to breath. I want to savor, remember, drink, eat every moment of them.
Feeling this way, I have spent the last almost month in my PJs, I have not sorted the mail, I have not vacuumed, I have not cleaned. What I have done is snuggle, wipe tears, wipe mouths, wipe bottoms, and learn to play a mean game of Princess "Mammary" (Memory). I have not been glamorous, heck I have down right looked like a witch. But I have been happy. Crazy, nerdy, mommy happy!

I hope to write more of an actual update next month, if I 've come out of this "mommy comma" by then. Until then, enjoy these pictures from a freezing cold night a the beach, one of the few times I actually got dressed this month :)

what a GREAT post!! Loved the pictures. We are headed to the beach today, dressed in jeans, to let Owen play in the sand.

I can't believe you have a panty-wearing little girl!!

You girls are PRETTY IN PINK and white. I love how Annabelle has come into her precious awareness of what is going on around her...so social now. And Evie---I just love her words and the way she thinks. That little one keeps me on my toes. Mama K

That is a great post Megan. I can really relate to the craziness, and especially the not getting dressed and not cleaning but enjoying the babies (although I'm sure I have no idea yet...I can't imagine having two!!). Luke is seven months old today, which is kind of shocking to me as I type it...where does the time go??

The girls are so cute!! :)
